NEET 2024 Rank: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the revised rank list for the NEET-UG medical entrance exam. This revision follows a retest conducted for candidates previously awarded grace marks due to exam delays on May 5 at six centers. The re-exam, held on June 23, saw less than half the affected candidates appear.

"It is now informed that revised Score Cards of all Candidates of NEET(UG) 2024 (including of 1563 Candidates who appeared in the Re-Test on 23 June 2024), are being hosted on the website (https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/). Candidates can login to the website and view/download/print their respective revised Score Cards," NTA said in a press release.

The NTA in a public notice June 30 also declared the revision of the rank of all candidates who appeared in the exam. The retest was held on June 23 after a controversy erupted regarding the awarding of grace marks to certain students.

The notice further stated that the revised scorecards of all the candidates of the NEET UG 2024 exam, including the 1563 candidates who appeared for the retest on June 23 would be hosted on the website.

NEET-UG Retest Attendance and Results

Out of 1,563 candidates eligible for the retest, only 813 appeared, as reported by NTA officials. The remaining candidates chose to retain their original scores without the grace marks. The NTA is set to release the NEET UG re-exam results today, June 30, on their official website exams.nta.ac.in.

Centre-wise, Chandigarh -- which had just two candidates -- registered zero attendance. The under-scanner Jhajjar centre registered 58 per cent attendance, with 287 of the 494 candidates taking the retest.

NEET-UG: Background of the Re-Exam

The initial NEET-UG exam on May 5 experienced significant disruptions due to the distribution of incorrect question papers, affecting 1,563 candidates. Initially, the NTA awarded grace marks to these candidates. However, the Supreme Court later mandated a retest to ensure fairness. As a result, the affected students were given the option to retake the exam or accept their original scores without the grace marks.

Initially, six students achieved a perfect score of 720, along with 61 others, sparking allegations of mark inflation. .

"Besides, officials from the agency, the Union Education Ministry will also be present at these centers. The step has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the re-exam," PTI had quoted a senior NTA official as saying.

NEET-UG Re-Test: Checking NEET Results

To check the NEET re-exam results, candidates should:

  • Visit exams.nta.ac.in/NEET.
  • Click on the link for NEET UG Re-exam results on the homepage.
  • Enter the requested login details.
  • View and download the results for future reference.

NEET UG 2024 Counselling Process

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will begin the NEET 2024 counselling process on July 6, following the release of the re-exam results. The MCC handles counselling for 15% of all India quota seats, as well as seats in central universities, the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. The detailed counselling schedule will be available on mcc.nic.in.

NEET-UG is conducted by the NTA for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions.

The allegations of irregularities, including paper leaks, have led to protests and litigation, with various quarters demanding a complete re-examination.

The Central Government announced a high-level committee, headed by former ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan, to look into the functioning and fair conduct of examinations by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The seven-member committee will submit its report in two months.

The CBI took over the investigation of NEET-UG following the discovery of evidence of a paper leak by investigators in Bihar and on June 23 registered a criminal case on the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exam. the probe agency has formed special teams to look into the matter.

As per the agency's FIR, certain "isolated incidents" occurred in a few states during the conduct of the NEET (UG) 2024 examination, which was held on May 5.
